To commemorate the March 4 release of FireFox 3.0.7 I thought I’d take a quick look at why so many online professionals use FireFox in preference to any of the other browsers available, including Internet Explorer, which comes as standard to all versions of Windows.

Initially Internet users started converting to FireFox in droves because of its far superior reliablity when compared with IE. But in recent times that reliability was eroded at least in part by its rather high CPU usage causing frequent crashes. However, it remained a more secure browser than most ot the others, and I think the main reason people stayed with it was the breathtaking selection of FireFox plugins and addons that are free to download and that considerably enhance user-experience, providing everything from web design applications to SEO-tools and on to social media applications.

Richard Dewick of Makakmedia had this to say:

I use FF due to the great extensions and plugins available that make my working day easier and smooth running.

Adam Jones has this to say:

I use FireFox for feeling secure online!

Mich D puts his love of FireFox nicely:

I use FireFox because its an online living workers office toolbox & communications system.

Katsumoomooo thinks that we shouldn’t rely even on Firefox:

Browsers have a different compatibility matrix in this world; for that reason, argument to use multiple browsers is strong.

Andrew Burnett covered all the bases when it comes to loving FireFox:

I use Firefox because: a) The available plugins. b) Secure c) Because I’m comfortable with it and too lazy to try other browsers

So, there you have it. If you aren’t already, you should definitely consider making the switch to FireFox.
