Now Working Passionately on a New Content Strategy…
I just couldn’t keep away!
Where have I been?
I left Wellwrittenwords and my freelance clients to work as a publisher for Elsevier Middle East, for a little over two years. Although it never felt ‘natural,’ I loved it in many ways. I have learned a lot, I have made alliances with people I would never have met in this field, I have gained confidence….
But at the end of the day I truly belong here, networking with some of the nicest people in the world (you know who you are) including Alan Bleiweiss, Dana Lookadoo and Donna Fontenot (there are many more dear friends online but if I include them all this would be a ‘list’). I’m also writing my heart out and indulging my passion for content strategy, my love of online marketing, SEO, content development and all things digital. I can also (somewhat) unleash my bossy nature, which you can’t in a corporate setting.
And I love helping others build their business with the tools and know-how I’ve gathered along the way.
It has been an emotional few months. The high was a reunion with my sister–I had only seen her once in thirty years, last April. This time we got to spend ten glorious days together. The low was the death of our baby brother only a few days after my sister left, necessitating a flying visit to the UK–my native homeland. He was very young and it was a lesson to all of us that, truly, we never know when we’re going to go, so we may as well make the most of it while we’re here.
Anyway, I’m really glad to be back and can’t wait to tell you all about the great projects we have on the horizon. I’m the Search and Social director for Mideast SEO now, but will be keeping Wellwrittenwords going as it is my first love as far as websites go.
Update 26 October, 2012
It has taken me a couple of months to get up-to-speed on recent developments in our field. Panda and Penguin, I’m comin’ for ya! I still have a ton of items to get straight, and contracts to finalize, and at the moment I’m still scrambling. But the new content strategy for our websites, especially the new one over at MideastSEO is finally falling into place.
How do you build a content strategy? It’s pretty simple but it takes focus.
- Select a list of keywords that should be targeted for your subject
- Plan a series of blog posts around those keywords, focusing (there’s that word again) on only one phrase for each post
- Research your posts thoroughly and include links out to authoritative posts on the subject
- Once your content is good, publish and post to the social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Stumbleupon and Pinterest if appropriate.
Wishing you, and me, the greatest of luck with your content strategy.
